Ketanov 10 mg Tablet – Ketorolac Tromethamine 10 mg by Sun Pharma

Ketanov 10 from Sun Pharma contains Ketorolac Tromethamine IP 10 mg. Ketorolac is an NSAID, but an unusually strong one – its pain-relieving power approaches that of opioids, which is why it is used for genuinely severe short-term pain such as after surgery, a kidney stone attack or dental extraction. That strength comes with a hard limit. Ketorolac is licensed for short-term use only, usually no more than five days, because the same potency that relieves pain also carries a higher risk of stomach bleeding and kidney injury than milder NSAIDs. It is a rescue medicine for a few days, not a painkiller to keep in the cupboard. Strip of 10 tablets. Prescription medicine.

Key Features

  • Ketorolac Tromethamine IP 10 mg tablet
  • Unusually powerful NSAID for severe short-term pain
  • Used after surgery, for renal colic and dental pain
  • Short courses only – usually a maximum of five days
  • Strip of 10 tablets from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.

Composition

  • Ketorolac Tromethamine IP – 10 mg per tablet

Composition as printed on the pack. Refer to the package insert for the complete list of excipients.

Uses & Benefits

  • Relieves severe short-term pain, including after surgery
  • Effective in renal colic and severe dental pain
  • Non-opioid, so it does not cause dependence or sedation
  • Reduces inflammation as well as pain
  • Works within an hour of a dose
  • Useful where milder painkillers have not been enough

Directions for Use

  • Take exactly as prescribed, and for no longer than your doctor says – usually a maximum of five days
  • Always take it with or just after food, never on an empty stomach
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water
  • Do not combine it with other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or diclofenac
  • Stop and contact your doctor if pain persists beyond the prescribed course – do not simply continue

Precautions

  • NSAIDs can cause stomach bleeding and ulcers without warning pain. Report black stools, vomiting blood or persistent stomach pain immediately
  • Take the lowest dose for the shortest time needed. Long courses raise the risk of heart attack and stroke
  • Not for use if you have active stomach ulcers, severe heart failure, severe kidney or liver disease, or a history of asthma or hives triggered by aspirin or other NSAIDs
  • Not for use in the last trimester of pregnancy, and only on medical advice earlier
  • Kidney function can deteriorate, particularly in older patients, in dehydration, or alongside ACE inhibitors and diuretics
  • Avoid alcohol, and tell your doctor about blood thinners, steroids, lithium, methotrexate and other pain medicines
  • Ketorolac carries a higher bleeding and kidney risk than milder NSAIDs – which is exactly why the course is kept short

Storage

  • Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture
  • Keep tablets in the original blister until use
  • Keep out of reach of children
