Tazloc-40 Tablet – Telmisartan 40 mg by USV

Tazloc-40 from USV Private Limited contains Telmisartan IP 40 mg in an uncoated tablet, made at USV’s Baddi facility. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker, and 40 mg is the standard maintenance dose – the strength most patients settle on once treatment is established. Blood pressure rises when angiotensin II docks onto receptors in the walls of blood vessels and makes them constrict; telmisartan occupies those receptors so the message cannot land, and vessels stay relaxed. Two things make it a common first choice among ARBs: it lasts around 24 hours, so a single morning tablet still holds pressure down through the vulnerable early-morning surge the next day, and it does not cause the dry cough that drives many people off ACE inhibitors. Strip of 15 tablets. Schedule H prescription medicine.

Key Features

  • Telmisartan IP 40 mg uncoated tablet – the standard maintenance strength
  • Angiotensin receptor blocker – blocks the receptor rather than the enzyme
  • Around 24-hour action from a single daily tablet
  • No dry cough, unlike ACE inhibitors
  • Strip of 15 tablets from USV Private Limited

Composition

  • Telmisartan IP – 40 mg per uncoated tablet
  • Excipients – q.s.

Composition as printed on the pack. Refer to the package insert for the complete list of excipients.

Uses & Benefits

  • Lowers high blood pressure with once-daily dosing
  • Holds control through the early-morning blood pressure surge
  • Reduces the long-term risk of stroke, heart attack and heart failure
  • Protects the kidneys in diabetes with kidney involvement
  • Free of the dry cough that limits ACE inhibitors
  • Can be taken with or without food

Directions for Use

  • Take one tablet once daily, exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day
  • Swallow the tablet whole with water; may be taken with or without food
  • Keep taking it even when you feel well – high blood pressure usually has no symptoms
  • Do not take potassium supplements or potassium-based salt substitutes unless your doctor says so
  • Do not stop or change the dose on your own; pressure rebounds when treatment stops

Precautions

  • Stop immediately and contact your doctor if you become pregnant. The pack warns that telmisartan can cause injury and even death to the developing baby when used in the second and third trimesters
  • Seek emergency care for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, although this is rarer than with ACE inhibitors
  • Blood tests for kidney function and potassium are done before and during treatment – potassium can rise
  • Dizziness on standing is common early on, and worse if you are dehydrated or taking diuretics
  • Tell your doctor about kidney disease, renal artery narrowing, liver disease, or if you take NSAIDs or lithium
  • Do not combine with an ACE inhibitor or aliskiren unless a specialist directs it

Storage

  • Store in a cool and dry place, as printed on the pack
  • Keep tablets in the original blister until use
  • Keep out of reach of children
