Ozostat-750 Tablet SR – Bilayered Tranexamic Acid 750 mg by Ozone

Ozostat-750 from Ozone Pharmaceuticals is an uncoated bilayered tablet delivering 750 mg of tranexamic acid in two separate layers: 635 mg in sustained release form and 115 mg in immediate release form. That split is the whole design. A purely sustained-release tablet releases the drug slowly and evenly, which is good for the hours ahead but slow to reach a useful blood level at the start – not ideal when the bleeding is already happening. The immediate-release layer dissolves straight away and gets levels up quickly; the sustained-release layer then takes over and holds them there. In practice you get a fast onset with a long tail from a single tablet. Tranexamic acid itself is an antifibrinolytic: it stops plasmin from dissolving clots that have already formed, so it slows blood loss without making the blood clot faster. Strip of 10 tablets.

Key Features

  • Bilayered tablet: 635 mg sustained release + 115 mg immediate release = 750 mg total
  • Fast onset from the immediate layer, sustained cover from the SR layer
  • Non-hormonal, taken only on the days of heavy bleeding
  • Antifibrinolytic – protects clots already formed rather than forcing new ones
  • Strip of 10 tablets from Ozone Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Composition

  • Tranexamic Acid IP – 635 mg (in sustained release form)
  • Tranexamic Acid IP – 115 mg (in immediate release form)
  • Colour: Ferric Oxide USP-NF Red. Excipients q.s. As printed on the pack

Uses & Benefits

  • Reduces the volume of blood lost in heavy menstrual periods
  • Taken only on the heavy days, not every day of the month
  • Non-hormonal – it does not affect the cycle, ovulation or fertility
  • Also prescribed for nosebleeds, dental extraction bleeding and other bleeding problems
  • Works within the first cycle, so the effect is easy to judge
  • Fits alongside iron replacement where periods have caused anaemia

Directions for Use

  • Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, split or chew it – that destroys the bilayer
  • Take it as directed by the physician, usually beginning when heavy bleeding starts
  • With or without food; with food if it causes nausea
  • Do not continue beyond the number of days your doctor sets
  • Keep up your fluid intake during the course

Precautions

  • Tell your doctor at once if you have ever had a blood clot in the leg or lung, a stroke or a heart attack. Tranexamic acid slows clot breakdown, so it is not given where a clot has occurred or is likely
  • It should not be taken with combined hormonal contraceptives without specialist advice – both raise clotting risk
  • Not for people with active intravascular clotting, colour vision defects, or bleeding from the kidney or urinary tract, where a clot could block the outflow
  • The dose is reduced in kidney impairment. Tell your doctor about kidney disease, seizures, or a history of subarachnoid haemorrhage
  • Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea are the usual side effects and settle with food. Report any calf pain or swelling, chest pain, breathlessness, sudden severe headache or a change in vision immediately
  • Heavy bleeding needs a diagnosis. This controls the symptom – fibroids, polyps, thyroid problems and clotting disorders still need investigating

Storage

  • Store in a dry, well-ventilated place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, as printed on the pack
  • Keep the tablets in the blister until use
  • Keep out of reach of children
