Lotepred T Eye Drop
Lotepred T Eye Drop is a high-potency ophthalmic intervention containing a synergistic blend of Loteprednol Etabonate (0.5% w/v) and Tobramycin (0.3% w/v), specifically engineered for the clinical management of steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions where a risk of superficial bacterial infection exists. Utilizing a unique “Site-Specific Steroid” delivery system, this formulation works by inducing the synthesis of lipocortins to inhibit the inflammatory cascade, while concurrently delivering broad-spectrum aminoglycoside activity against susceptible pathogenic microorganisms. By modulating the release of arachidonic acid and inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, Lotepred T effectively neutralizes the triggers of ocular edema, erythema, and microbial colonization. This targeted biochemical action provides a decisive therapeutic response by reinforcing the ocular surface defense and minimizing the potential for intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation typically associated with traditional corticosteroids.
Key Features
- Specifically formulated with Loteprednol to provide potent inflammation control with a significantly reduced risk of inducing glaucoma or cataracts.
- Clinically recognized for the role of Tobramycin in providing decisive coverage against Gram-positive and Gram-negative ocular pathogens.
- Specifically engineered to address both the inflammatory response and the microbial risk in a single ophthalmic delivery.
- Acts as a functional catalyst to reduce localized swelling and conjunctival congestion.
- Formulated as a sterile suspension to ensure sustained contact time and effective penetration into the ocular tissues.
Key Ingredients
- Loteprednol Etabonate (0.5% w/v)
- Tobramycin (0.3% w/v)
- Benzalkonium Chloride
- Povidone & Tyloxapol
- Edetate Disodium
Precautions
- Consult with an ophthalmologist prior to use, especially if you have a history of glaucoma, herpes simplex keratitis, or fungal ocular diseases.
- Prolonged use (exceeding 10 days) requires regular monitoring of intraocular pressure by an eye care professional.
- Remove contact lenses before instillation. Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting lenses to prevent preservative-related ocular irritation.
- Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye or eyelashes, as this can introduce exogenous pathogens into the sterile suspension.
- Prolonged use of antibiotics may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi; discontinue if secondary infection is suspected.
- Keep the bottle tightly closed and store in an upright position in a cool, dry place (below 25°C); do not freeze.
How to Use
- Wash hands thoroughly. Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the active ingredients are uniformly suspended.
- Instill 1 to 2 drops of Lotepred T into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) every 4 to 6 hours.
- Tilt the head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and squeeze the bottle gently. Apply light pressure to the tear duct (nasolacrimal occlusion) for 1-2 minutes to minimize systemic absorption.
- During the initial 24 to 48 hours, the dosage may be increased to every 1 to 2 hours as directed by a specialist to manage acute inflammation.
- Do not discontinue use abruptly. Follow the physician’s instructions to gradually reduce the frequency of application to prevent inflammatory rebound.
- If using other eye drops, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes between the application of different products to prevent dilution.
