Ketocip CT Soap – Ketoconazole 2% + Cetrimide 0.5%, 75 g by Cipla

Ketocip CT Soap from Cipla is a 75 g medicated bathing bar containing Ketoconazole IP 2.0% w/w and Cetrimide IP 0.5% w/w. The “CT” is the cetrimide, and it is the reason this exists alongside the plain ketoconazole soap. Ketoconazole is an antifungal – it blocks the enzyme fungi need to build ergosterol for their cell membranes, and it is the standard agent for the Malassezia yeast behind seborrhoeic dermatitis and tinea versicolor. Cetrimide is a quaternary ammonium antiseptic that works on bacteria instead, disrupting their membranes directly. That combination matters because scratched, macerated fungal skin very often picks up a secondary bacterial infection, and treating only the fungus leaves half the problem. The pack states it is useful in fungal skin infections including seborrhoeic dermatitis of the body and in bacterial skin infections. TFM 76% (min.), Grade-I.

Key Features

  • Ketoconazole IP 2.0% w/w – antifungal, the standard agent for Malassezia
  • Cetrimide IP 0.5% w/w – antiseptic, covering secondary bacterial infection
  • Treats the fungus and the bacterial overgrowth that often accompanies it
  • TFM 76% (min.), Grade-I soap base. Net weight 75 g
  • From Cipla Ltd.

Composition

  • Ketoconazole IP – 2.0% w/w
  • Cetrimide IP – 0.5% w/w
  • Soap noodle base q.s., Perfume q.s. Colour: Toney Red & Tartrazine. As printed on the pack

Uses & Benefits

  • Useful in mild superficial fungal skin infections, as the pack states
  • Also covers bacterial skin infections through the cetrimide
  • Helps reduce the itching, redness and discomfort of superficial fungal and bacterial infection
  • Used in seborrhoeic dermatitis of the body and in tinea infections, as prescribed
  • A bathing bar, so it treats large areas of skin more practically than a cream
  • Grade-I soap base with 76% minimum total fatty matter

Directions for Use

  • Wet the body, rub the soap gently to make a rich lather, leave it on for a few minutes and wash thoroughly – or as directed by your physician, exactly as printed on the pack
  • The contact time is the point. Rinsing straight off gives the ketoconazole no time to work
  • Use it on the affected areas and the skin around them
  • Complete the course your doctor sets – fungal infections recur when treatment stops at the point symptoms fade
  • Keep the bar dry between uses

Precautions

  • For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, eyelids and mucous membranes – rinse thoroughly with water if it does contact them, as the pack directs
  • Not for use on the face, genitals or broken and weeping skin unless your doctor specifically advises it
  • Contains perfume and the colours Toney Red and Tartrazine. Stop use if you develop a rash, burning or worsening redness – tartrazine sensitivity is uncommon but real
  • A spreading, painful, blistered or feverish skin infection needs a doctor, not a soap
  • Do not share the bar with others while treating an infection, and wash towels and clothing in hot water
  • Keep it away from children. Consult a doctor before using on a child, in pregnancy or while breastfeeding

Storage

  • Store below 30°C, as printed on the pack
  • Keep the bar dry in a soap dish that drains
  • Keep out of reach of children
