Eglucent Rapid Solution for Injection is a prescription rapid-acting insulin marketed by Lupin Limited under licence from Eli Lilly and Company. Each ml contains Insulin Lispro 100 IU of recombinant DNA origin, supplied in a 3 ml cartridge designed for use with Lilly reusable insulin pens. It is used to improve blood sugar control in adults and children with type 1 diabetes and in people with type 2 diabetes who need mealtime insulin. Because it starts working quickly, it is taken close to meals to manage the rise in blood sugar that follows eating, helping reduce the risk of long-term diabetes complications affecting the eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart.

How It Works

Insulin Lispro is a modified form of human insulin that is absorbed faster after injection under the skin. It begins to act within about 15 minutes and works for a shorter time than regular insulin. It helps glucose move from the blood into muscle, fat and liver cells, where it is used for energy or stored, and it reduces the amount of sugar released by the liver. This closely mimics the body’s natural insulin response to a meal.

How to Use

• Inject under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, upper arm or buttocks, usually within 15 minutes before or just after a meal.
• Use only with a compatible Lilly insulin pen and a new needle for each injection.
• Rotate injection sites to prevent lumps under the skin.
• Follow the dose set by your doctor and monitor your blood sugar regularly.

Safety Advice

• This is a prescription medicine; use only under medical supervision.
• Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) is the most common side effect; watch for sweating, shaking, fast heartbeat, confusion or hunger and take sugar promptly.
• Always eat a meal after your injection and never share your pen or cartridge.
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems or are pregnant; injection site reactions and weight gain may occur.
• Store unopened cartridges in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C; do not freeze. An in-use cartridge can be kept below 30°C for up to 28 days.
