V19 Colic Drops from Bakson’s Homoeopathy is a homoeopathic veterinary preparation for small and large animals, with the indications printed plainly on the carton: flatulence, intestinal colic, abdominal spasm and constipation – hard, dry, knotty stools with great straining. What makes the formula unusual among homoeopathic combinations is the potency range. Most combination drops are built at a single potency; this one runs from 4x to 8x – low, material-dose potencies rather than the high dilutions used elsewhere in the range. Colocynthis and Magnesium phosphoricum at those potencies are the two classical antispasmodic remedies, traditionally given for cramping abdominal pain that the animal eases by pressing its belly. Alumina, Plumbum aceticum and Lycopodium cover the constipation side. Shake well before use. For veterinary use. 30 ml.

Precautions

• Colic is an emergency in a horse and can be one in cattle. An animal rolling, pawing, sweating, looking at its flank or unable to pass dung needs a veterinarian immediately – a twisted gut or an obstruction will not respond to any oral remedy
• Straining to pass dung can also mean an obstruction, a retained foreign body or a urinary blockage – a male cat straining in the litter tray is a same-day emergency, not constipation
• Do not give anything by mouth to an animal that is bloated, in severe pain or vomiting until a vet has assessed it
