Consti Aid Drops from Bakson’s Homoeopathy is a homoeopathic veterinary preparation for small and large animals – the carton shows a horse, cattle, goats, sheep, dogs and pigs – aimed at acute and chronic constipation, and at constipation caused by swallowing things that are not food: bone chips, hair, cloth, paper and grass. That indication is more specific and more useful than it first appears. Bone-chip impaction is a genuinely common problem in working and rural dogs fed cooked bones; hair impaction is a cat problem; and pica – eating cloth or paper – often signals something else going on. The formula is led by Chelidonium majus, the classical liver and bile remedy, with Nux vomica 200 for ineffectual straining, Sulphur 200 and Lycopodium clavatum 30. Alcohol content 44.6% v/v – roughly half that of the Fooma range. For veterinary use. 30 ml.

Directions for Use

Precautions

• A bone-chip or foreign-body impaction can perforate the bowel. An animal straining without result for more than a day, vomiting, or with a painful abdomen needs a veterinarian – this may need an enema or surgery, not drops
• Never feed cooked bones. They splinter and are the commonest cause of the impaction this product is indicated for
• A male cat straining in the litter tray is a urinary emergency, not constipation. It needs a vet within hours
• Pica – eating cloth, paper or soil – often signals an underlying problem and deserves investigation rather than symptomatic treatment

• Read the label carefully and store away from sunlight
