Azacytin 100mg Injection
Azacytin 100mg Injection is a prescription anticancer medicine made by Dr Reddys Laboratories. Each vial holds 100mg of Azacitidine as a sterile powder that is mixed before use. It is used to treat myelodysplastic syndromes, a group of disorders in which the bone marrow does not make enough healthy blood cells. Doctors also use it for chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia and certain cases of acute myeloid leukaemia. Azacitidine belongs to a group of medicines called hypomethylating agents. It works by changing the way genes are switched on inside abnormal marrow cells. This helps slow the growth of faulty cells and allows the marrow to make more normal blood cells. The injection is given under the skin or into a vein in repeated treatment cycles. It must only be given by trained staff under the care of a cancer specialist. Regular blood tests are needed during treatment to check blood counts, liver and kidney health.
