How It Works

Alfacalcidol is rapidly converted by the liver into calcitriol, the active hormonal form of Vitamin D. This active form increases the absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine and helps regulate their levels in the blood, supporting normal bone mineralization. Unlike ordinary Vitamin D, Alfacalcidol does not require activation by the kidney, making it useful for patients whose kidney function is impaired.
