Impinoz 1% Cream

Impinoz 1% Cream is a topical antibiotic marketed by Torrent Pharmaceuticals. Its active ingredient is Ozenoxacin 1% w/w, a newer quinolone antibiotic. Ozenoxacin blocks the bacterial enzymes needed for DNA copying. This stops the bacteria from multiplying and helps the skin heal. It is mainly used for impetigo, a contagious skin infection with sores and crusts. It is active against Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, the usual culprits. Very little of the drug passes into the blood when used on the skin. Treatment is typically short and focused on the infected patches. Each tube holds 10 gm of cream.
