Toba Eye Drop

Toba Eye Drops are a high-potency ophthalmic antibiotic solution containing Tobramycin, a powerful aminoglycoside derived from the Streptomyces tenebrarius bacterium. It is specifically formulated to treat external bacterial infections of the eye and its surrounding structures, such as bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), keratitis, and blepharitis. Toba works by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, effectively inhibiting protein synthesis and causing the collapse of the bacterial cell wall. This rapid bactericidal action ensures that the infection is neutralized quickly, preventing further spread and protecting the delicate tissues of the eye from long-term damage.

Key Features

  • Effectively eliminates a wide range of bacteria responsible for external ocular infections.
  • Quickly halts bacterial growth to alleviate symptoms like redness, discharge, and irritation.
  • Formulated to reach effective concentrations in the tear film and corneal tissue.
  • Balanced to match the pH and salinity of natural tears for maximum comfort.
  • Concentrates the medication exactly where it is needed, minimizing the risk of systemic impact.

Key Ingredients

  • Tobramycin (0.3% w/v)
  • Benzalkonium Chloride
  • Boric Acid
  • Sodium Sulfate
  • Purified Water

Precautions

  • Use the drops for the full duration prescribed by your doctor. Stopping early may allow the infection to return or lead to antibiotic resistance.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while you have an active eye infection. If using the drops, remove lenses and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them, as the preservative may be absorbed by soft lenses.
  • Do not touch the dropper tip to your eye, eyelids, or any other surface to keep the solution sterile.
  • You may experience temporary blurred vision immediately after application. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision is clear.
  • Consult an ophthalmologist before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Inform your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to other aminoglycoside antibiotics (like Gentamicin or Neomycin).

How to Use

  • Wash your hands thoroughly. Tilt your head back and look upward.
  • Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the bottle upside down near the eye.
  • Squeeze one drop into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Ensure the dropper tip does not touch the eye.
  • Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner (near the nose) for 1–2 minutes. This prevents the medication from draining into the tear duct.
  • In mild to moderate infections, apply every 4 hours. For severe infections, your doctor may recommend use every hour until improvement is noted.
  • Store at room temperature away from direct light. Discard the bottle 28 days after first opening to ensure sterility.
