Tidomet Forte Tablet – Levodopa 250 mg + Carbidopa 25 mg by Torrent

Tidomet Forte from Torrent Pharmaceuticals contains Levodopa IP 250 mg with Carbidopa IP equivalent to Carbidopa Anhydrous 25 mg in an uncoated tablet. Forte marks it as the strong version of the range: two and a half times the levodopa of Tidomet Plus, for patients whose disease has advanced past what the lower strength controls. The carbidopa remains at 25 mg because its role is protective rather than therapeutic – it saturates the enzyme that would otherwise destroy levodopa in the bloodstream, and beyond a point more adds nothing. Directions for Use

• Take exactly as prescribed – the dose and timing are worked out individually and adjusted over time
• Take it at the same times every day. With this medicine timing matters more than with almost any other; a late dose can mean symptoms return
• Avoid taking it with a high-protein meal – dietary protein competes with levodopa for absorption and can blunt the dose
• If nausea troubles you, a light non-protein snack with the dose can help. Ask your doctor first
• Never stop suddenly. Abrupt withdrawal can cause a dangerous reaction with fever and muscle rigidity

Precautions

• Do not stop this medicine abruptly – sudden withdrawal can trigger a severe reaction with high fever and muscle stiffness needing emergency care
• Dizziness on standing is common, particularly early on. Rise slowly from sitting or lying
• Sudden sleep attacks can occur without warning drowsiness – do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this affects you
• Involuntary writhing movements (dyskinesia) may develop after long use, and each dose may start wearing off early. Report both – the regimen can be adjusted
• Impulse control problems (gambling, compulsive shopping, eating or sexual urges) have been reported. Tell your doctor or family if behaviour changes
• Urine, sweat or saliva may darken. This is harmless
• Tell your doctor about glaucoma, heart disease, ulcers, kidney or liver disease, or a history of melanoma; do not take with MAO inhibitors

Storage

• Keep in a dry place, protected from light, as printed on the pack
• Keep tablets in the original blister until use
• Keep out of reach of children
