Persol Forte Cream is a greaseless acne cream from Wallace Pharmaceuticals, India, supplied in a 30 g tube. It combines precipitated sulphur with hydrous benzoyl peroxide, two long-used ingredients for acne vulgaris.

Benzoyl peroxide reduces the bacteria that feed breakouts and helps open blocked pores. Sulphur has a mild drying and peeling action that helps absorb excess oil and clear whiteheads and blackheads. Used together they target both the cause and the look of pimples.

The non-greasy base spreads thinly and suits oily and combination skin. Benzoic acid and methylparaben are added as preservatives to keep the cream stable in the tube.

Apply a thin layer on the affected areas, starting once a day and building up if the skin allows. Mild dryness, redness or peeling is common early on. Keep the cream away from the eyes, lips and broken skin, and avoid letting it touch coloured fabrics, since benzoyl peroxide can bleach them. Use sunscreen by day and stop use if irritation becomes strong.

Check the batch number and expiry date on the carton before first use and keep the product in its original packaging. Introduce one new active product at a time so you can tell how your skin responds, and avoid combining it with harsh scrubs or other strong exfoliants on the same day. If you notice swelling, rash or lasting burning, rinse the area with water, stop using the product and speak to a doctor.
