Otrivin Paediatric 0.05% Nasal Drops – Xylometazoline, 10 ml

Otrivin Paediatric Nasal Drops from GSK contain Xylometazoline 0.05% w/v in a strength formulated specifically for children. Note this is a different molecule from Otrivin Oxy, which uses oxymetazoline. Xylometazoline narrows the swollen blood vessels in the nasal lining, shrinking the tissue that blocks a child’s narrow airway and making it easier for them to breathe, feed and sleep. The dropper allows a controlled dose into each nostril. 10 ml bottle. Use only as directed by your doctor.

Key Features

  • Xylometazoline 0.05% w/v – the paediatric strength
  • Formulated for children – gentler concentration than adult sprays
  • Dropper gives a controlled, measured dose per nostril
  • Helps a congested child breathe, feed and sleep more comfortably
  • 10 ml bottle from GSK Consumer Healthcare

Composition

  • Xylometazoline Hydrochloride – 0.05% w/v

Refer to the pack label and package insert for the complete list of excipients.

Uses & Benefits

  • Relieves a blocked nose in children
  • Eases congestion from the common cold
  • Helps with nasal blockage from hay fever and respiratory allergies
  • Clears the airway so a congested child can feed and sleep better
  • Fast-acting topical relief without an oral medicine
  • Dropper format suits small children who cannot use a spray

Directions for Use

  • Use only in the dose and duration your doctor advises
  • Tilt the child’s head back and squeeze the dropper without touching the nose with the tip
  • Allow the drops to spread, then repeat in the other nostril
  • Close one nostril while applying to the other, and ask the child to sniff gently
  • Wipe the dropper clean after use; do not share the bottle between children

Precautions

  • Do not use for more than 10 consecutive days. Prolonged use can cause rebound congestion and, over time, atrophic rhinitis
  • Do not stop abruptly after extended use – this triggers rebound blockage; taper as your doctor advises
  • Do not exceed the prescribed dose – children absorb decongestants more readily than adults
  • Tell your doctor about any heart condition, thyroid disorder or diabetes in the child
  • Mild nasal stinging, dryness or sneezing can occur and is usually brief
  • For external nasal use only. Consult your doctor if congestion persists

Storage

  • Store below 25°C in a dry place
  • Keep the bottle tightly closed; protect from direct sunlight
  • Keep out of reach of children
