Ondem-MD 4 mg Tablet – Ondansetron 4 mg by Alkem
Ondem-MD 4 mg Tablet from Alkem Laboratories contains Ondansetron 4 mg in a mouth-dissolving form. It blocks 5-HT3 receptors to interrupt the serotonin signal that drives the vomiting reflex. The MD format dissolves on the tongue without water, which is the practical advantage when someone is nauseated, travelling, or cannot keep liquids down – the tablet is absorbed before it can be vomited back. Strip of 10 MD tablets. Prescription medicine.

Uses & Benefits
- Prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
- Controls nausea and vomiting caused by radiotherapy
- Prevention and treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting
- Helps you keep down food and fluids during treatment
- Reduces the dehydration that persistent vomiting causes
- Well-established anti-emetic with decades of clinical use
Directions for Use
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
- Do not push the tablet through the foil – peel the backing off, as these tablets are fragile
- Place it on the tongue and let it dissolve – no water needed, and it will not be lost if you vomit soon after
- Handle with dry hands; take it immediately once removed from the blister
- For chemotherapy, take the dose before treatment begins as directed – prevention works far better than rescue
Precautions
- Ondansetron can affect heart rhythm (QT prolongation). Tell your doctor about any heart rhythm disorder, heart failure, or low potassium or magnesium, and about other medicines that affect rhythm
- Constipation and headache are the commonest side effects – 5-HT3 blockers slow the bowel. Keep fluids up
- Not for use in intestinal obstruction, and it does not treat motion sickness – ondansetron works on the chemical trigger, not the inner ear
- Use with caution in liver disease; the dose is usually capped
- Discuss pregnancy with your doctor before use – it is prescribed in pregnancy sickness only when the benefit is judged to outweigh the risk
- Seek urgent care for chest pain, fainting, an irregular heartbeat, or rash and swelling of the face or throat
Storage
- Store below 30°C in a dry place
- Keep tablets in the original blister, protected from light and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
