Oflox Eye Drop is a prescription antibiotic solution made by Cipla Ltd. Each ml contains Ofloxacin 0.3% w/v, with benzalkonium chloride as a preservative. Ofloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics. It works by stopping bacteria from copying their DNA, so they cannot grow and spread. Doctors commonly prescribe it for bacterial conjunctivitis, which causes red, sticky and watery eyes. It may also be used for corneal ulcers and other surface eye infections caused by sensitive bacteria. The same solution is labelled for ear use and can help treat outer and middle ear infections. It does not work against viral or fungal infections. The 5 ml vial has a spike cap that pierces the tip on first use for clean, controlled drops. Once opened, the solution should be used within one month.
