Nicoduce OD 10mg Tablet is a prescription heart medicine from Abbott Healthcare used to prevent and treat angina, the chest pain that occurs when narrowed arteries stop the heart muscle from getting enough oxygen-rich blood. Each prolonged-release tablet contains Nicorandil IP 10 mg, designed to release the medicine slowly for convenient once-daily dosing. It is often prescribed when other anti-anginal medicines are unsuitable or have not worked well enough. Taken regularly, it reduces the risk of angina attacks, eases chest discomfort and improves the ability to exercise and carry out daily activities. Each bottle contains 10 tablets.

How It Works

Nicorandil has a unique dual action. It opens potassium channels in the smooth muscle of blood vessel walls, causing the arteries, including the coronary arteries that supply the heart, to relax and widen. It also has a nitrate-like effect that relaxes the veins, reducing the amount of blood returning to the heart. Together, these actions lower the heart’s workload and increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart muscle, which helps prevent angina pain.

How to Use

• Take the tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, who will set the dose and frequency.
• Swallow it whole with water; do not crush or chew, as this destroys the prolonged-release action.
• Take it regularly at about the same times each day, even when you have no symptoms.
• Do not stop suddenly without medical advice, as chest pain may return.

Safety Advice

• This is a Schedule H prescription medicine; use only under medical supervision.
• Never take it with erectile dysfunction medicines such as sildenafil or tadalafil, as blood pressure can drop dangerously.
• Tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure, heart failure, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Headache is common in the first days and usually eases within a week. Dizziness, weakness, nausea and flushing may also occur; report mouth, skin or gut ulcers promptly.
• Avoid alcohol and do not drive if dizzy. Store in a refrigerator at 2–8°C with the cap tightly closed, out of reach of children.
