Gaviscon Oral Suspension is a fast-acting, dual-mechanism treatment designed to provide rapid and long-lasting relief from heartburn, acid indigestion, and GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Unlike standard antacids that only neutralize stomach acid, Gaviscon features a unique “raft-forming” technology. Upon contact with gastric acid, it transforms into a thick, protective physical barrier that floats on top of the stomach contents. This “raft” effectively blocks acid from rising into the esophagus (food pipe), preventing the burning sensation at its source. It is an ideal solution for managing post-meal discomfort, nighttime reflux, and the gastric distress often experienced during pregnancy.

Precautions

• This product is high in sodium. If you are on a salt-restricted diet (e.g., due to hypertension or heart failure), consult your doctor before use.
• Wait at least 2 hours between taking Gaviscon and other medications, as it can interfere with the absorption of certain antibiotics, iron salts, and heart medications.
• Patients with renal impairment or a history of calcium-based kidney stones should use this product with caution under medical supervision.
• If symptoms do not improve after 7 days of continuous use, consult a healthcare professional to rule out more serious underlying conditions.
• Should only be given to children under 12 years of age on the specific advice of a physician.
• Contains methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoates, which may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

How to Use

• Shake the bottle vigorously before each use to ensure the active ingredients are evenly suspended.
• For adults and children 12 years and over, take 10ml to 20ml (two to four 5ml spoonfuls) per dose.
• Best taken after meals and at bedtime, or exactly when symptoms occur.
• Take the suspension orally; do not mix it with water or milk, as this can weaken the formation of the protective raft.
• Can be taken up to four times daily. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose.
• Store at room temperature (below 30°C). Do not refrigerate or freeze, as this can change the consistency of the suspension.
