Fibrodone 801mg Tablet is Lupin full maintenance strength of pirfenidone, supplied as a pack of ten film coated tablets. It is used in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a chronic disease in which lung tissue thickens into scar and loses the elasticity that normal breathing depends on. As the fibrosis spreads, the lungs expand less freely and oxygen passes into the blood less efficiently. Pirfenidone acts against several pathways that drive scar formation while reducing the inflammation that travels with it. At 801mg one tablet supplies a third of the usual full daily intake, so three tablets complete a standard day. A doctor moves a patient to this strength only once lower doses have been handled comfortably. Doses are taken with food, which meaningfully reduces nausea, heartburn and loss of appetite. Liver function blood tests are carried out before starting and at set points during therapy. Sun sensitivity is a well known effect, so sunscreen and covered clothing are advised every day.
