Enterogermina Oral Suspension – Bacillus clausii 2 Billion Spores by Sanofi
Enterogermina is a probiotic oral suspension containing 2 billion spores of Bacillus clausii in each 5 ml mini bottle, used to help manage diarrhoea and restore the balance of intestinal bacterial flora. What sets it apart from the yoghurt-style probiotics is the word spore. Most probiotic bacteria are supplied as living cells, and a large share of them are destroyed by stomach acid and bile before they ever reach the intestine. Bacillus clausii is supplied instead as a dormant spore – a tough, metabolically inactive form that passes through the stomach intact and only germinates once it reaches the intestine, where it is needed. The strains are also poly-antibiotic resistant, which is why this is one of the few probiotics that can be taken during a course of antibiotics rather than waiting until it is finished. Pack of 10 mini bottles of 5 ml.

Composition
- Bacillus clausii spores – 2 billion per 5 ml bottle
- Oral suspension. Refer to the pack for the complete formula
Uses & Benefits
- Helps manage acute diarrhoea in children and adults
- Restores the intestinal bacterial flora after it has been disturbed
- Useful during and after a course of antibiotics, when gut bacteria take the worst of it
- Helps with the bloating and gut discomfort that follow an upset stomach
- Suitable for children as well as adults, in the dose your doctor advises
- Convenient single-dose bottles for travel and for school or office bags
Directions for Use
- Shake the mini bottle well before opening – the spores settle
- Twist off the upper tip of the bottle at the marked point and drink the contents directly, or empty it into a little water, milk, tea or juice
- Usual dose is 1 to 2 mini bottles a day, or as your doctor directs
- Space it a couple of hours from a meal if you can, though it may be taken with food
- Do not add it to a hot drink – heat destroys the spores. Use the bottle as soon as it is opened
Precautions
- Diarrhoea that lasts more than two days, or comes with a high fever, blood in the stool or severe dehydration, needs a doctor – a probiotic is supportive care, not a substitute for rehydration or treatment
- Oral rehydration solution remains the first priority in diarrhoea, especially for children. Keep up fluids alongside this
- People with a weakened immune system, a central venous line or a serious underlying illness should ask a doctor first – live organisms are not risk-free in that setting
- Tell your doctor about any allergy to the ingredients. Stop and seek advice if a rash or swelling appears
- Do not use if the bottle is damaged, leaking or past its expiry date
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C, away from direct sunlight
- No refrigeration needed – the spore form is stable at room temperature
- Keep the bottles in the carton until use, and out of reach of children
