Duolin Inhaler 50 mcg + 20 mcg – Dual Bronchodilator by Cipla

Duolin Inhaler from Cipla delivers Levosalbutamol 50 mcg and Ipratropium Bromide 20 mcg in every actuation – two bronchodilators that open narrowed airways by different routes, which is why they are combined. Levosalbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 agonist that relaxes the muscle wrapped around each airway; Ipratropium Bromide is an anticholinergic that blocks the nerve signal telling that muscle to tighten. Used together they widen the airway further and hold it open longer than either does alone. Because the dose is inhaled straight into the lung, relief begins within minutes and very little of the drug reaches the rest of the body. Duolin is prescribed mainly for COPD, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, and for asthma where a single bronchodilator has not been enough.

Key Features

  • Two bronchodilators in one puff – beta-2 agonist plus anticholinergic
  • Fast relief – breathing typically eases within a few minutes of inhaling
  • Delivered directly to the lungs, so systemic side effects stay low
  • Metered-dose inhaler giving a consistent dose every actuation
  • From Cipla, one of India’s established respiratory-care manufacturers

Composition

  • Levosalbutamol (Levalbuterol) – 50 mcg per actuation
  • Ipratropium Bromide – 20 mcg per actuation
  • Propellant and excipients – q.s.

Uses & Benefits

  • Relief of bronchospasm in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Management of chronic bronchitis and emphysema
  • Asthma that needs more than a single bronchodilator
  • Eases wheezing, chest tightness, coughing and breathlessness
  • Improves airflow and exercise tolerance in day-to-day activity
  • Helps reduce the frequency of acute breathing difficulty when used as prescribed

Directions for Use

  • Use only as directed – the usual dose is 1 to 2 puffs, up to four times daily
  • Shake the inhaler well before each use and prime it if new or unused for days
  • Breathe out fully, seal your lips around the mouthpiece, press and inhale slowly and deeply
  • Hold your breath for about 10 seconds, then breathe out gently; wait a minute before a second puff
  • Rinse your mouth afterwards and clean the mouthpiece weekly to prevent blockage

Precautions

  • Tell your doctor about heart disease, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorder, glaucoma or an enlarged prostate
  • Avoid spraying into the eyes – ipratropium can cause blurred vision and eye pain
  • Possible effects include tremor, headache, palpitations, dry mouth, throat irritation and cough
  • If your usual dose stops controlling symptoms, contact your doctor rather than increasing it
  • Discuss use in pregnancy or while breastfeeding before starting
  • Seek urgent care if breathing worsens straight after a puff, or with chest pain or a very fast heartbeat

Storage

  • Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and heat
  • Pressurised canister – never puncture, burn or leave it in a hot car
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children
