Digene Acidity & Gas Relief Tablet from Abbott is an orange-flavoured chewable antacid that works on acidity and trapped gas at the same time. Its three antacid salts – dried aluminium hydroxide gel, magnesium hydroxide and magnesium aluminium silicate – neutralise excess stomach acid to ease burning and sour reflux, while Simethicone breaks down trapped gas bubbles so wind passes more easily. The tablets are chewed rather than swallowed, so they need no water and can be taken anywhere. Supplied as a strip of 15 tablets.

Directions for Use

• Adults: 2 to 4 tablets as required, chewed or sucked after meals and at bedtime, or as advised by your physician.
• Children: only as advised by a physician.
• Chew the tablet thoroughly before swallowing – do not swallow it whole. No water is needed.
• Leave a gap of about 2 hours between Digene and other medicines, as antacids can affect their absorption.

Precautions

• Read the label carefully before use and do not exceed the stated dose.
• See a doctor if symptoms last more than two weeks, or if you have persistent stomach pain, vomiting or difficulty swallowing.
• Tell your doctor before use if you have kidney disease, as the aluminium and magnesium content may need monitoring.
• Contains Sunset Yellow FCF, which may not suit people sensitive to azo colours.
• Large or prolonged doses may cause loose stools or constipation; stop use and consult a doctor if this persists.
• Ask a doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on a low-salt diet.

Storage

• Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
• Keep the tablets in their strip until use and protect from light.
• Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
