Precautions

• Never stop this medicine abruptly after more than a few days of use – sudden withdrawal can trigger a dangerous adrenal crisis
• It makes infections harder to fight and can mask their signs. Tell your doctor about any fever, sore throat or infection
• Long-term use can raise blood sugar and blood pressure, thin bone and affect the eyes. Your doctor will monitor for these
• Tell your doctor about diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma, stomach ulcers, tuberculosis or osteoporosis
• If on long-term treatment, the dose usually needs increasing during illness, injury or surgery; carry a steroid card
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
