Covance 25 Tablet contains Losartan Potassium, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. It is widely prescribed for high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and to reduce the risk of stroke in people with hypertension and an enlarged heart. Covance works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a chemical in the body that narrows blood vessels, allowing blood vessels to relax and widen. This lowers blood pressure, improves blood flow to the heart and other organs, and reduces the workload on the heart. It also helps protect the kidneys in people with diabetes and high blood pressure. This is a prescription-only Schedule H medicine and must be taken strictly as advised by your doctor, at the same time every day, for as long as it is prescribed, even if you feel well, since hypertension often has no symptoms.

Directions for Use

Precautions

• Your doctor may periodically monitor blood urea, creatinine and potassium levels while you are on this medicine
• Avoid NSAIDs such as ibuprofen without consulting your doctor, as they may reduce the effectiveness of this medicine
• Consult your doctor before driving if you feel dizzy or unwell after taking this medicine
• This medicine is highly unsafe during pregnancy and can cause serious harm to the baby – inform your doctor immediately if you conceive; use with caution while breastfeeding
• Use with caution in patients with kidney or severe liver disease – common side effects include dizziness, back pain and upper respiratory tract infection

Storage

• Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Keep the tablet in its original blister pack until ready to use
