BJain Berberis Vulgaris Drops – 30 ml

BJain Berberis Vulgaris Drops is a ready-to-use liquid preparation indicated for renal and biliary colic. The characteristic Berberis picture is distinctive and worth knowing: pain in the small of the back that radiates outward rather than staying put, associated with renal calculi; and on the biliary side, gallstone colic with jaundice and clay-coloured stools. Supplied in a 30 ml dropper bottle with 49% v/v alcohol content, for dilution in water. From B. Jain Pharmaceuticals.

Key Features

  • Ready-to-use drops for renal and bilious colic
  • Indicated where back pain radiates outward from the kidney region
  • Also for gallstone complaints with jaundice and clay-coloured stools
  • Alcohol content 49% v/v – to be diluted in water
  • 30 ml dropper bottle from B. Jain Pharmaceuticals

Composition

  • Berberis vulgaris – homoeopathic preparation of barberry
  • Alcohol content – 49% v/v

Refer to the pack label for the complete composition.

Uses & Benefits

  • Traditionally indicated in renal colic and kidney stone pain
  • Used for biliary colic and gallstone complaints
  • Indicated for pain in the small of the back radiating outward
  • Traditionally used where jaundice and clay-coloured stools accompany the picture
  • Convenient ready-made drops rather than a dispensed dilution
  • Dropper bottle allows accurate counting of drops

Directions for Use

  • Take 10–15 drops in a quarter cup of water, three times a day
  • In acute exacerbation, repeat every 1–2 hours in lukewarm water, or as prescribed
  • Take 10 minutes before or after meals
  • Always dilute in water – do not take the drops neat
  • Or take exactly as prescribed by a homoeopathic physician

Precautions

  • Contains 49% v/v alcohol – take diluted; avoid in alcohol dependence or liver disease without medical advice
  • Renal colic is severe and needs medical assessment – a stone that obstructs, or colic with fever or blood in the urine, is an emergency
  • Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding without a practitioner’s advice
  • Avoid tobacco, alcohol and camphor-containing products during treatment
  • Not a substitute for the medical or surgical management of stones
  • Keep out of reach of children

Storage

  • Protect from heat, moisture and direct sunlight
  • Keep the cap tightly closed after each use
  • Keep the medicine out of reach of children
