Betadine Vaginal Pessaries are an antiseptic treatment used for a range of vaginal infections. Each pessary carries Povidone-Iodine IP 200mg in a smooth macrogol base. The iodine is released slowly once the pessary softens at body temperature. It acts on bacteria, yeast and protozoa at the site of the problem. This makes it useful in bacterial vaginosis, thrush and trichomoniasis. Itching, burning and unusual discharge usually settle as the course goes on. Organisms do not build resistance to iodine the way they do to antibiotics. The pack holds ten pessaries, enough for a standard course. Betadine is made in India by Win-Medicare and is widely prescribed by gynaecologists. Use it only on the advice of a doctor.
