Avastin 100mg Injection
Avastin 100mg Injection is a prescription anticancer medicine from Roche. Each 4ml vial holds 100mg of Bevacizumab as a concentrate that is diluted before use. It is used for advanced cancers of the colon and rectum, lung, kidney, ovary and cervix. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets a protein called VEGF. Tumours release VEGF to grow new blood vessels that feed them with oxygen and nutrients. By blocking this protein, the medicine starves the tumour and slows its growth and spread. It is usually given together with chemotherapy as part of a planned treatment course. The infusion is given slowly into a vein, generally once every two or three weeks. Treatment must only take place in a hospital or clinic under a cancer specialist. Blood pressure, urine protein and wound healing are checked regularly during therapy.
