Arkamin Tablet is a blood pressure medicine from Torrent Pharmaceuticals. Each tablet contains Clonidine 100mcg, also written as 0.1mg. Clonidine belongs to a group of medicines called centrally acting alpha 2 agonists. It works on the brain to reduce the nerve signals that tighten blood vessels. As a result the blood vessels relax and the heart rate slows a little. This helps bring raised blood pressure down to a healthier level. Keeping blood pressure under control lowers the risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney problems. Arkamin is usually prescribed when other medicines are not enough on their own. It can be used together with other blood pressure tablets. The dose is set and adjusted by a doctor based on each patient.
