Apixapil 5 Tablet is made by Alkem Laboratories and contains apixaban 5mg. It is an oral anticoagulant used to stop harmful clots from forming or growing. Apixaban works by selectively blocking Factor Xa, an enzyme at the heart of the clotting process. It is commonly given to adults with atrial fibrillation to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism. It is also prescribed to treat clots in the legs and lungs and to prevent them from coming back. After hip or knee replacement surgery, it may be used for a short period to protect against clots. It works without the need for regular INR blood testing. There are few interactions with food, which keeps daily use simple. Each strip holds 10 film-coated tablets.
