RVC SP 6 Bloat Vet from Dr. Roma’s Homeopathy is a homoeopathic veterinary preparation in globule form, indicated on the pack as “Distension of Abdomen” and carrying cattle on the carton. Bloat – ruminal tympany – is one of the classic emergencies of cattle farming, and it is worth being clear about what is happening. A cow’s rumen produces enormous volumes of gas during fermentation and normally belches it away continuously. If that eructation is blocked, or if the gas is trapped in a stable foam by lush legume pasture, pressure builds until the rumen presses on the diaphragm and the animal suffocates. It can kill within an hour. Directions for Use

Precautions

• Acute bloat is a life-threatening emergency and can kill within an hour. A cow with a rapidly swelling left flank, laboured breathing, an extended neck or one that is going down needs a veterinarian immediately – it may need a stomach tube or a trocar
• Frothy bloat from lush legume pasture will not respond to any oral remedy in time. Prevention – feeding roughage before turnout, avoiding wet legume pasture – is what works
