Zanskar Head-to-Toe Pain Kit – Cream, Oil and Headache Roll-On
The Zanskar Head-to-Toe Pain Kit is a three-piece Ayurvedic topical set containing Advanced Pain Healing Cream 50 g, Advanced Pain Healing Oil 100 ml and Advanced Headache Roll-On 10 ml, one of each. It is the same range as the four-piece kit without the aerosol spray – which makes it the sensible choice if you mainly treat areas you can reach and massage yourself, and the practical one if you are travelling, since a pressurised can is the item most likely to cause trouble in luggage. The ingredient list across the set is the interesting part. Capsaicin, from chilli, works by depleting substance P from local sensory nerve endings, which is why the effect builds over repeated use rather than arriving all at once. Arnica is the classic topical for bruising and soft-tissue soreness, MSM supplies sulphur, and magnesium in the roll-on is there for tension-type headache. A gentle warming formulation rather than a strong cooling one.
Key Features
- Three formats, one of each – 50 g cream, 100 ml oil, 10 ml headache roll-on
- No aerosol, so it travels more easily than the four-piece kit
- Actives include arnica, capsaicin, MSM, vitamin B6, ginger, wintergreen and eucalyptus
- Roll-on with magnesium for the temples and the back of the neck
- Ayurvedic, AYUSH-licensed. From Zanskar (Zanskar Health)
Composition
- Advanced Pain Healing Cream 50 g – Ayurvedic formulation with arnica, vitamin B6, MSM and capsaicin
- Advanced Pain Healing Oil 100 ml – with arnica, sesame, ginger, wintergreen, eucalyptus and capsaicin
- Advanced Headache Roll-On 10 ml – magnesium therapy. Refer to each pack for its full ingredient list
Uses & Benefits
- For muscle aches, joint pain and headache in one set
- Cream for joints you can reach; oil for longer massage over larger areas
- Roll-on for temples and the nape of the neck, where a cream would be unpleasant
- No aerosol, so easier to pack and carry
- Warming Ayurvedic formulations to use alongside rest and stretching
- Cheaper together than buying the three separately
Directions for Use
- Cream and oil: apply over the whole area of discomfort three to four times a day and massage until absorbed. Wash your hands afterwards
- Roll-on: run the metal rollerball over the forehead, temples and the back of the neck
- Use only on clean, dry, unbroken skin
- Capsaicin builds up with repeated use – give it several days of regular application rather than judging one dose
- Do not apply heat over a treated area
Precautions
- For external use only. Keep away from the eyes, mouth, inner nose and broken or weeping skin – capsaicin and menthol sting badly on mucous membranes
- Wash your hands thoroughly after applying, and do not touch your eyes or contact lenses before you do. Capsaicin transfers easily
- Patch test on a small area first. A warming or tingling sensation is expected; persistent burning, blistering or a spreading rash means stop and see a doctor
- Do not use a heating pad, hot water bottle or hot shower over a treated area – heat plus capsaicin can cause a burn
- Not for use on children, in pregnancy or while breastfeeding without medical advice. Avoid if you are allergic to arnica, daisies, ragweed or any listed ingredient
- Pain that is severe, worsening, follows a fall, or comes with numbness, weakness, swelling or fever needs a doctor, not a topical product
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Close all caps tightly after use
- Keep out of reach of children
