Excela from Cipla is a 50 g moisturiser designed specifically for oily and acne-prone skin, and it resolves a contradiction that trips a lot of people up: oily skin still needs moisturising. Acne treatments – benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, salicylic acid, isotretinoin – all work partly by drying, and skin that is dried out and barrier-damaged compensates by producing more oil, not less. Skipping moisturiser therefore tends to make oiliness worse. Excela is built for that job: non-comedogenic, fragrance-free and paraben-free, with a matte rather than greasy finish. The interesting active is Enantia chlorantha bark extract with oleanolic acid, a combination shown to reduce sebum output by acting on the sebaceous gland itself, alongside niacinamide for the barrier and zinc PCA for oil control. Directions for Use

• Cleanse and pat the face dry first

• A small amount is enough; it is designed to sit matte, not tacky
• Use daily and consistently – sebum control builds over weeks, not days

Precautions

• For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes
• Patch test before first use if your skin is sensitive or already irritated by an acne treatment
• Stop use and consult a doctor if redness, burning or a rash develops
• A moisturiser does not treat acne. Persistent, painful, cystic or scarring acne needs a dermatologist and prescribed treatment
• Not for use on broken or weeping skin. Keep the pump clean
