Lioresal 10 mg Tablet – Baclofen 10 mg by Novartis
Lioresal 10 from Novartis India contains Baclofen IP 10 mg in an uncoated tablet. Lioresal is the original baclofen brand, and 10 mg is the standard maintenance strength. Baclofen treats spasticity – muscles held in continuous painful contraction after damage to the brain or spinal cord. It works as a GABA-B agonist in the spinal cord, reinforcing the body’s own inhibitory signalling so the overactive reflex arc settles. Unlike a simple painkiller it addresses the contraction itself, which is why it eases both the stiffness and the pain that stiffness causes, and why it makes physiotherapy possible for many patients. Strip of 10 tablets. Schedule H prescription medicine.

Directions for Use
- Take exactly as prescribed – the dose is started low and built up over days to weeks
- Swallow the tablet with water, usually three times daily as directed
- Take it with or after food if it upsets your stomach
- Never stop suddenly – abrupt withdrawal is dangerous and the dose must be tapered by your doctor
- Avoid alcohol, which greatly increases the drowsiness
Precautions
- Never stop baclofen suddenly. Abrupt withdrawal can cause fever, confusion, hallucinations, rebound spasticity and, rarely, seizures. It must always be tapered by your doctor
- Drowsiness and dizziness are common, especially in the first weeks. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you
- Avoid alcohol and other sedatives – they multiply the drowsiness
- Some spasticity is useful. If a patient relies on stiff legs to stand or transfer, relaxing the muscle too much can make walking harder – tell your doctor if this happens
- The dose is reduced in kidney disease. Tell your doctor about kidney problems, epilepsy, stroke, or a history of stomach ulcers
- Weakness, nausea, confusion and low blood pressure can occur; report anything that troubles you rather than stopping the tablet yourself
