Lipril 10 mg Tablet – Lisinopril 10 mg by Lupin

Lipril 10 from Lupin contains Lisinopril IP equivalent to anhydrous Lisinopril 10 mg in an uncoated tablet. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor. The body has a hormone cascade that raises blood pressure when it senses a shortage of blood flow: angiotensin-converting enzyme turns angiotensin I into angiotensin II, a powerful vessel constrictor that also drives salt and water retention. Blocking that enzyme relaxes the vessels and eases the load on the heart. That is why lisinopril treats not only high blood pressure but heart failure, and why it is prescribed after a heart attack and to protect the kidneys in diabetes. Strip of 15 tablets. Directions for Use

• Take one tablet once daily, exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; may be taken with or without food
• The first dose can drop blood pressure sharply – take it when you can sit or lie down afterwards
• Keep taking it even when you feel well; high blood pressure has no symptoms
• Do not stop without your doctor’s advice, and never take potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless told to

Precautions

• A persistent dry cough is the classic side effect – harmless but often intolerable. Tell your doctor; a different class of medicine can be substituted
• Stop and seek emergency care for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat (angioedema). It is rare but dangerous
• Not for use in pregnancy. ACE inhibitors harm the developing baby – tell your doctor at once if you become pregnant
• Blood tests for kidney function and potassium are done before and during treatment
• Dizziness on standing is common early on, and worse if you are dehydrated or on diuretics
• Tell your doctor about kidney disease, renal artery narrowing, or if you take NSAIDs, potassium-sparing diuretics or lithium

Storage

• Store protected from moisture, between 20°C and 25°C, as printed on the pack
• Keep tablets in the original blister until use
• Keep out of reach of children
