Entacom Plus 100 Tablet – Levodopa 100 mg + Carbidopa 25 mg + Entacapone 200 mg by Intas

Entacom Plus-100 from Intas Pharmaceuticals combines Levodopa 100 mg, Carbidopa 25 mg, and Entacapone 200 mg in a single tablet. Adding entacapone answers a problem that appears years into treatment: doses that used to last four hours start fading after two, and the day breaks into “on” and “off” periods. Carbidopa already blocks one enzyme that degrades levodopa before it reaches the brain; entacapone blocks COMT, the enzyme responsible for the rest. With both routes closed, each dose is stretched rather than strengthened – more useful hours from the same levodopa. Strip of 10 tablets. Schedule H prescription medicine.

Key Features

  • Levodopa 100 mg + Carbidopa 25 mg + Entacapone 200 mg in one tablet
  • Entacapone blocks COMT, the second enzyme that destroys levodopa
  • Extends the duration of each dose rather than raising the peak
  • For end-of-dose wearing-off and fluctuating on/off periods
  • Strip of 10 tablets from Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Composition

  • Levodopa – 100 mg
  • Carbidopa – 25 mg
  • Entacapone – 200 mg
  • Per tablet

Composition as printed on the pack. Refer to the package insert for the complete list of excipients.

Uses & Benefits

  • Reduces the tremor, stiffness and slowness of Parkinson’s disease
  • Extends how long each levodopa dose keeps working
  • Reduces end-of-dose wearing-off and off periods
  • Three medicines in one tablet, simplifying a complex regimen
  • Carbidopa cuts the nausea plain levodopa causes
  • Improves daily function and independence

Directions for Use

  • Take exactly as prescribed – the dose and timing are worked out individually and adjusted over time
  • Take it at the same times every day. With this medicine, timing matters more than with almost any other; a late dose can mean symptoms return
  • Avoid taking it with a high-protein meal – dietary protein competes with levodopa for absorption and can blunt the dose
  • If nausea troubles you, a light non-protein snack with the dose can help. Ask your doctor first
  • Never stop suddenly. Abrupt withdrawal can cause a dangerous reaction with fever and muscle rigidity

Precautions

  • Do not stop this medicine abruptly – sudden withdrawal can trigger a severe reaction with high fever and muscle stiffness needing emergency care
  • Dizziness on standing is common, particularly early on. Rise slowly from sitting or lying
  • Sudden sleep attacks can occur without warning; drowsiness – do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this affects you
  • Involuntary writhing movements (dyskinesia) may develop after prolonged use, and each dose may start to wear off early. Report both – the regimen can be adjusted
  • Impulse control problems (gambling, compulsive shopping, eating or sexual urges) have been reported. Tell your doctor or family if behaviour changes
  • Urine, sweat or saliva may darken. This is harmless
  • Tell your doctor about glaucoma, heart disease, ulcers, kidney or liver disease, or a history of melanoma; do not take with MAO inhibitors
  • Entacapone turns urine a harmless reddish-brown. Expect it, and do not be alarmed
  • Diarrhoea can appear weeks into treatment – report it, as it sometimes needs the drug stopped

Storage

  • Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture
  • Keep tablets in the original blister until use
  • Keep out of reach of children
