Pramipex 1 mg Tablet – Pramipexole Dihydrochloride 1 mg by Sun Pharma

Pramipex 1 from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries contains Pramipexole Dihydrochloride 1 mg, a dopamine agonist used in Parkinson’s disease and in restless legs syndrome. Levodopa works by giving the brain the raw material to make dopamine; pramipexole takes a different route entirely. It does not replace dopamine at all – it goes directly to the dopamine receptors and activates them itself, mimicking the missing signal. That independence from the brain’s remaining dopamine-producing cells is why it is often chosen early in the disease, and why neurologists use it to delay starting levodopa in younger patients. Strip of 10 tablets. Prescription medicine.

Uses & Benefits

  • Reduces tremor, stiffness and slowness in Parkinson’s disease
  • Works directly on dopamine receptors, independent of remaining dopamine cells

  • Also relieves the urge to move and night-time discomfort of restless legs syndrome

Directions for Use

  • Take exactly as prescribed – the dose is increased gradually over weeks to limit side effects
  • Swallow the tablet whole with water; taking it with food reduces nausea
  • Take it at the same times each day
  • Never stop suddenly. Pramipexole must be tapered by your doctor – stopping abruptly can cause a withdrawal reaction
  • If a dose is missed, skip it and take the next as scheduled. Do not double up

  • Impulse control disorders are a recognised effect – compulsive gambling, shopping, eating or sexual urges. Ask a family member to watch for behaviour changes and report them; they resolve when the dose is reduced
  • Dizziness or fainting on standing is common, particularly while the dose is being increased. Rise slowly
  • Hallucinations and confusion can occur, especially in older patients
