Nuavomin 4 mg Tablet MD – Ondansetron 4 mg by Abbott

Nuavomin 4 mg Tablet MD from Abbott contains Ondansetron 4 mg as a mouth-dissolving (MD) tablet. That format matters more than it sounds: someone who is actively vomiting cannot reliably swallow a tablet with water, and may bring it straight back up. An MD tablet dissolves on the tongue in seconds without water, so the dose is taken even mid-episode. Ondansetron itself blocks 5-HT3 receptors, cutting off the serotonin signal that triggers the vomiting reflex. Strip of 10 MD tablets. Prescription medicine.

Key Features

  • Ondansetron 4 mg – selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist
  • Mouth-dissolving – no water needed, usable mid-episode
  • Standard adult strength for nausea and vomiting
  • For chemotherapy, radiotherapy and post-operative nausea
  • Strip of 10 MD tablets from Abbott

Composition

  • Ondansetron – 4 mg per tablet

Refer to the pack label and package insert for the complete list of excipients.

Uses & Benefits

  • Prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
  • Controls nausea and vomiting caused by radiotherapy
  • Prevention and treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting
  • Helps you keep down food and fluids during treatment
  • Reduces the dehydration that persistent vomiting causes
  • Well-established anti-emetic with decades of clinical use

Directions for Use

  • Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
  • Do not push the tablet through the foil – peel the backing off, as these tablets are fragile
  • Place it on the tongue and let it dissolve – no water needed, and it will not be lost if you vomit soon after
  • Handle with dry hands; take it immediately once removed from the blister
  • For chemotherapy, take the dose before treatment begins as directed – prevention works far better than rescue

Precautions

  • Ondansetron can affect heart rhythm (QT prolongation). Tell your doctor about any heart rhythm disorder, heart failure, or low potassium or magnesium, and about other medicines that affect rhythm
  • Constipation and headache are the commonest side effects – 5-HT3 blockers slow the bowel. Keep fluids up
  • Not for use in intestinal obstruction, and it does not treat motion sickness – ondansetron works on the chemical trigger, not the inner ear
  • Use with caution in liver disease; the dose is usually capped
  • Discuss pregnancy with your doctor before use – it is prescribed in pregnancy sickness only when the benefit is judged to outweigh the risk
  • Seek urgent care for chest pain, fainting, an irregular heartbeat, or rash and swelling of the face or throat

Storage

  • Store below 30°C in a dry place
  • Keep tablets in the original blister, protected from light and moisture
  • Keep out of reach of children
