Elosone Cream – Mometasone Furoate IP 0.1% w/w, 10 g
Elosone Cream from Leeford Healthcare contains Mometasone Furoate IP 0.1% w/w, a potent topical corticosteroid. It works by suppressing the local immune response and blocking the chemical messengers – prostaglandins among them – that produce the redness, swelling and itch of an inflammatory skin condition. Mometasone is favoured in dermatology because it is effective once daily and has a comparatively low tendency to be absorbed into the bloodstream for its potency class. Prescribed for eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and inflammatory rashes. 10 g tube. Prescription medicine – for external use only.

Uses & Benefits
- Treatment of skin conditions with inflammation and itching
- Used in eczema and atopic dermatitis
- Used in contact and seborrhoeic dermatitis
- Relieves plaque psoriasis on the body and limbs
- Settles inflammatory rashes and allergic skin reactions
- Rapid relief from itch, which breaks the scratch-inflammation cycle
Directions for Use
- Wash and dry the area, then apply a thin film to the affected skin only
- Use as directed by your doctor – usually once daily
- For external use only. Wash your hands after applying, unless the hands are the treated area
- Do not cover with a bandage or dressing unless your doctor tells you to – occlusion sharply increases absorption
- Use for the shortest period that controls the flare, then stop as advised
Precautions
- Avoid the face, eyelids, groin and underarms unless specifically directed – the skin there is thin and absorbs far more, risking permanent thinning
- Do not use long-term. Prolonged use causes skin atrophy, stretch marks, visible vessels and permanent discolouration
- Do not apply to broken skin, or to untreated bacterial, fungal or viral infections – steroids suppress local immunity and let infection spread
- Extended use in children can suppress the adrenal glands and delay growth – children absorb proportionally more; use only under medical supervision
- Not recommended in pregnancy; discuss with your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding
- Burning, stinging, itching or folliculitis can occur – report worsening or spreading to your doctor
Storage
- Store below 25°C, protected from light
- Do not freeze. Keep the cap tightly closed
- Keep out of reach of children
