Scrabel Lotion is a topical anti-parasitic lotion marketed by Leeford Healthcare Ltd. It contains permethrin 5% w/v, a widely used treatment for scabies. Scabies is caused by tiny mites that burrow under the skin and lay eggs, leading to intense itching and a bumpy rash. Permethrin acts on the nerve cells of the mites, paralysing and killing both the mites and their eggs. A single full-body application is often enough to clear the infestation, though a doctor may advise a second dose. The lotion spreads easily over large areas of skin, including folds and between the fingers. Itching may continue for a few weeks after treatment as the skin heals, which is normal. Close contacts and family members are usually treated at the same time to prevent reinfection. Clothing and bedding should be washed in hot water after use. It comes in a 50 ml bottle and should be used only as directed by a doctor.
