PS Mite 1% Soap is a medicated cleansing bar formulated with Permethrin, a highly effective treatment for scabies and head lice. Permethrin belongs to the pyrethroid class of medications and works as a neurotoxin; it disrupts the nervous system of mites (Sarcoptes scabiei) and their eggs, leading to paralysis and death. Unlike lotions which are left on for many hours, the soap format is often used for secondary prevention, treating the body surface during an active infestation, or managing milder cases. Precautions
- Do not ingest. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or open wounds. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Scabies is highly contagious. It is often recommended that all household members be treated simultaneously to prevent re-infestation.
- Mild stinging or redness may occur. If you experience a severe allergic reaction or worsening rash, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
- Note that itching may continue for a week or two after the mites are dead; this is a normal immune reaction to the mite debris and not necessarily a sign of treatment failure.
- Consult a physician before using on children under 2 months of age or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding.
How to Use
- Step 1: Wet the body with lukewarm water (avoid very hot water as it can increase skin irritation).
- Step 2: Apply PS Mite Soap to the entire body, paying special attention to folds of the skin, webs of fingers/toes, armpits, and groin.
- Step 3: Work into a rich lather and allow it to stay on the skin for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure the Permethrin takes effect.
- Step 4: Rinse thoroughly with water and pat dry with a clean, fresh towel.
