Prilox Cream
Prilox Cream is a high-performance topical local anesthetic designed to provide effective numbing of the skin and surrounding tissues. Formulated as a eutectic mixture of two potent anesthetic agents, this cream is widely used in clinical and aesthetic dermatology to minimize pain during minor surgical procedures, needle insertions, and laser treatments. Unlike standard topical creams that only affect the very surface of the skin, Prilox is engineered to penetrate the dermal layers, temporarily blocking the pain signals sent by nerve endings to the brain. This makes it an essential tool for both medical professionals and patients who require a painless experience during localized skin interventions.
Key Features
- Dual-Action Anesthesia: Combines two synergistic numbing agents to provide a rapid and deep anesthetic effect.
- Long-Lasting Numbness: Provides a stable numbing sensation that can last for several hours after the initial application period.
- Procedure Versatility: Ideal for a wide range of uses, from pediatric immunizations to advanced cosmetic laser therapies.
- High Skin Permeability: Specifically formulated to pass through the skin barrier more effectively than single-agent creams.
- Improved Patient Compliance: Significantly reduces the anxiety and physical discomfort associated with needles and minor skin surgery.
Key Ingredients
- Lidocaine (2.5% w/w)
- Prilocaine (2.5% w/w)
- Polyoxyethylene Hydrogenated Castor Oil
- Carbomer 934P
- Purified Water
Precautions
- Prilox is for topical application on intact skin only. Do not apply to open wounds, broken skin, or near the eyes and ears.
- Do not apply the cream inside the mouth, nose, or genital areas unless specifically directed by a doctor.
- Do not leave the cream on the skin for longer than the recommended time (usually not exceeding 5 hours) to avoid systemic absorption.
- Use with extreme caution in infants under 12 months and patients with rare blood disorders, as Prilocaine can affect oxygen levels in the blood.
- Do not use if you have a known hypersensitivity to “amide-type” local anesthetics.
- Avoid scratching, rubbing, or exposing the numbed area to extreme heat or cold until the sensation has fully returned to prevent accidental injury.
How to Use
- Clean and dry the area of skin where the procedure will take place.
- Apply a thick, even layer of Prilox Cream to the site; do not rub it in. For needle procedures, a 2-gram application (roughly half a tube for smaller sizes) is typically sufficient.
- For the best results, cover the cream with an airtight, occlusive dressing (like plastic wrap or a specialized medical film).
- Leave the cream in place for at least 60 minutes before the procedure. For deeper procedures or laser work, your doctor may recommend leaving it for 2 hours.
- Just before the procedure begins, remove the dressing and wipe off the excess cream with a clean gauze or tissue.
- The numbing effect will persist for 1 to 2 hours after removal.
