Lacrigel Ocular Lubricant
Lacrigel Ocular Lubricant is a sterile, high-viscosity ophthalmic solution designed to provide long-lasting relief from persistent dry eye symptoms and ocular surface irritation. Unlike standard liquid drops that may evaporate quickly, Lacrigel features a gel-like consistency that forms a protective, lubricating shield over the cornea. This “liquid shield” mimics the natural tear film, preventing moisture loss and protecting the eye from environmental irritants such as wind, dust, air conditioning, and prolonged screen use. It is particularly effective for nighttime use, ensuring the eyes remain hydrated and comfortable during sleep, or for individuals suffering from chronic dry eye conditions like keratoconjunctivitis sicca.
Key Features
- The high-viscosity gel formula stays on the eye surface longer than standard aqueous drops.
- Acts as a barrier against wind, smoke, and digital eye strain.
- Immediately calms the burning, itching, and “foreign body” sensation caused by dryness.
- Provides superior lubrication during sleep to prevent morning eye irritation and crusting.
- Produced under strict clinical standards to ensure safety and purity for sensitive ocular tissues.
Key Ingredients
- Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) / Carbomer
- Purified Water
- Sodium Chloride
- Sorbitol / Electrolytes
- Stabilized Preservative
Precautions
- Due to its thickness, the gel will cause temporary blurring immediately after application. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision clears.
- Generally, contact lenses should be removed before application. Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting lenses unless otherwise directed by your optometrist.
- Do not touch the tip of the tube to any surface, including the eye or eyelids, to prevent bacterial contamination.
- Use only in the eyes. Do not swallow the gel.
- Store at room temperature away from direct heat. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use.
- Discard any remaining gel 28 to 30 days after first opening to ensure sterility.
How to Use
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling the eye gel.
- Remove the cap and tilt your head back or lie down comfortably.
- Using one finger, gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small “pocket” or pouch.
- Hold the tube upside down near the eye and squeeze a tiny strip (about 1 cm) of Lacrigel into the lower eyelid pocket.
- Release the eyelid and close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Roll your eyeball behind the closed lid to distribute the gel evenly.
- Wipe away any excess gel from your eyelashes with a clean, lint-free tissue and replace the cap immediately.
