Eritel B 40/50 from Eris Lifesciences is a prescription combination for high blood pressure that pairs two medicines working on different mechanisms. Each uncoated bilayered tablet contains:
- Telmisartan IP – 40 mg
- Metoprolol Succinate IP – 47.50 mg, equivalent to Metoprolol Tartrate 50 mg (in prolonged-release form)

- Colour – Lake Red Oxide of Iron

Directions for Use

- The tablet is moisture sensitive – do not pop it out of the strip until the moment you take it.
- Keep taking it even when you feel well; blood pressure often has no symptoms.
Precautions
- Schedule H prescription drug. The pack states: “Not to be sold by retail without the prescription of a Registered Medical Practitioner.”
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. The carton warns that telmisartan must be stopped as soon as pregnancy is detected – in the second and third trimesters it can injure or kill the developing baby.
- Never stop this medicine suddenly. Abruptly withdrawing a beta blocker can trigger chest pain, a surge in blood pressure or a heart attack. Your doctor will taper it.
- Tell your doctor if you have asthma or COPD, diabetes (beta blockers can mask low-sugar warning signs), thyroid problems, or kidney disease.
- Avoid in liver disease. Use caution with alcohol, and do not drive if you feel dizzy or drowsy.
- Common effects include dizziness, tiredness, slow heartbeat and cold hands or feet. Report anything persistent.
Storage
- Store between 10°C and 25°C in a dry, dark place.
- Keep tablets sealed in the strip until use – they absorb moisture readily.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
