HHLite Cream is a prescription skin cream marketed by Hegde and Hegde Pharmaceutica LLP. It contains hydroquinone 2% w/w, tretinoin 0.025% w/w and mometasone furoate 0.1% w/w. It is used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma, which shows as brown or grey patches on the face. Hydroquinone slows down the production of melanin, the pigment that darkens the skin. Tretinoin speeds up the turnover of skin cells, so pigmented cells are shed faster and the other ingredients reach deeper. Mometasone is a mild steroid that calms redness and irritation that the other two can cause. Working together, the three ingredients lighten dark patches more effectively than any one alone. Some improvement is often seen within a few weeks, with fuller results after regular use over two to three months. Daily sunscreen is essential during treatment, since sunlight can bring the pigment back. It comes in a 20gm tube and should be used only as advised by a dermatologist.
