Catlon Eye Drop from R’Keon Life Sciences is a sterile ophthalmic solution used to support the eye’s natural lens and help slow the progression of early cataract. Potassium iodide supports the normal nutrition and transparency of the lens, sodium chloride helps draw excess fluid out of the cornea to ease swelling, and calcium chloride helps maintain the mineral balance of ocular tissue. It is often advised when cataract surgery has to be postponed. Supplied in a 10 ml multi-dose bottle.

Uses & Benefits

• Helps delay the progression of early cataract (lenticular opacity).
• Supports the normal nutrition and transparency of the natural lens.
• Used pre-operatively to help limit lens opacity before cataract surgery.
• Helps reduce corneal oedema and the associated blurring.
• An option when surgery must be deferred, for example in uncontrolled diabetes or hypertension.
• May support early visual improvement in mild, immature cataract.

Directions for Use

• Use as directed by your physician – the pack specifies dosage by medical direction.
• Wash your hands, tilt your head back and pull the lower lid down to form a pocket.
• Instil 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye(s), commonly every 3 to 4 hours.
• Close the eye briefly and press the inner corner to aid absorption.
• Leave at least 10 minutes between Catlon and any other eye drop.

Precautions

• Prescription required. The carton states: “Not to be sold by retail without the prescription of a Registered Medical Practitioner.”
• For ophthalmic use only. Not for injection and not to be swallowed.
• Discard the bottle one month after opening, or sooner if the solution turns cloudy or dark brown.
• Do not let the nozzle touch your eye or any surface, as this contaminates the solution.
• Tell your doctor about any iodine allergy or thyroid disorder before starting treatment.
• Remove contact lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before reinserting. Stop use and consult a physician if irritation persists.

Storage

• Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.
• Do not freeze.
• Keep out of the reach of children.
