Permite 5% Cream 60 g – Permethrin Cream for Scabies

Permite 5% Cream from Curatio Health Care is a permethrin-based cream used against scabies, the intensely itchy skin infestation caused by tiny mites that burrow into the skin. Permethrin works by paralysing and killing the mites and their eggs, so the infestation can clear instead of returning. The itching may carry on for a couple of weeks after the mites are gone, which is normal while the skin recovers. It comes in a 60 g tube with a smooth cream base that spreads easily over the whole body.

Composition (Per Gram)

• Permethrin – 50 mg (5% w/w)
• Formaldehyde solution BP – 0.1% w/w, as a preservative
• Cream base – q.s.

How to Use

• Bathe and dry the skin, then let it cool down before applying.
• Massage the cream gently over the whole body from the neck down to the soles of the feet, including between fingers and toes, under the nails, the armpits and the groin.
• In young children and the elderly, the scalp, forehead and temples may also need treating, as advised by the doctor.
• Leave it on for 8 to 14 hours, for example overnight.
• Wash it off thoroughly with lukewarm water and soap in the morning.
• Repeat after 7 to 14 days only if live mites are still seen, as your doctor advises.
• Treat close family members at the same time, and wash bedding, towels and clothes in hot water.

Precautions

• For external use only. Keep away from eyes, mouth, nose and open wounds.
• Mild burning, stinging, redness or itching can occur after application and usually settles.
• Not recommended for children under 2 months of age unless a doctor advises it.
• Tell your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are allergic to permethrin, pyrethrins or formaldehyde.
• Do not store above 30°C. Keep the tube tightly closed, away from light and out of reach of children.
• Use only under the guidance of a registered medical practitioner.
