Ciplox D Eye/Ear Drops

Ciplox D Eye/Ear Drops is a potent dual-action medication used to treat bacterial infections and inflammatory conditions affecting the eyes or ears. It combines Ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic, with Dexamethasone, a powerful corticosteroid. This combination works effectively by eradicating the infection-causing bacteria while simultaneously reducing the accompanying swelling, redness, and pain. It is commonly prescribed for conditions like bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), otitis externa (swimmer’s ear), and acute otitis media. Additionally, it is a standard treatment for managing post-operative inflammation after ocular surgeries, helping to prevent secondary infections and ensure a smoother recovery process.

Key Features

  • Combines an antibiotic and a steroid to treat the cause of infection and its symptoms at once.
  • Contains Ciprofloxacin to kill a wide variety of bacteria by preventing them from reproducing.
  • Dexamethasone quickly reduces the itching, redness, and throbbing pain associated with severe inflammation.
  • Specially formulated to be safe and effective for use in both the ocular (eye) and otic (ear) cavities.
  • Trusted by surgeons to prevent infection and control swelling following cataract or other eye operations.

Key Ingredients

  • Ciprofloxacin (0.3% w/v)
  • Dexamethasone (0.1% w/v)
  • Benzalkonium Chloride (0.01% w/v)

Precautions

  • This medication contains a steroid and should only be used under the direction of a doctor. Prolonged use can lead to increased eye pressure (glaucoma) or cataracts.
  • This product is not effective against viral or fungal infections. Using steroids on a viral eye infection (like Herpes Simplex) can be dangerous.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while you have an active eye infection. Remove lenses before instilling drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
  • Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye or ear canal, to prevent contamination of the bottle.

How to Use

  • For Eye Use: Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instill 1-2 drops into the pocket formed. Close your eye for 1-2 minutes and apply gentle pressure to the inner corner near the nose.
  • For Ear Use: Tilt your head to the side or lie down. Instill 2-4 drops into the ear canal and remain in that position for 2-3 minutes to allow the liquid to soak in.
  • Consistency: Use the drops at the exact frequency prescribed (usually every 4-6 hours for eyes or twice daily for ears).
  • Complete the Course: Always finish the full duration prescribed by your doctor, even if symptoms improve early, to prevent antibiotic resistance.
  • If you are using other eye medications, wait at least 5-10 minutes between different types of drops.
