Tazret Forte Cream (Tazarotene 0.1% w/w)
Tazret Forte Cream is a high-potency topical retinoid containing 0.1% Tazarotene. As a third-generation retinoid, it is specifically designed to target the skin’s retinoic acid receptors more selectively than older generation retinoids. It is primarily prescribed for the treatment of plaque psoriasis, where it helps normalize skin cell overproduction and reduces the thickness and scaling of plaques. Additionally, Tazret Forte is highly effective for managing severe acne vulgaris and is increasingly used in dermatological settings for advanced “photo-aging” correction. It works by accelerating the renewal of the skin layers, clearing blocked pores, and stimulating the underlying dermal matrix to improve skin elasticity and tone.
Key Features
- More receptor-selective than Tretinoin, often leading to a more targeted therapeutic response.
- Slows down the rapid multiplication of skin cells, significantly reducing the appearance of scaly, red patches.
- Highly effective at treating stubborn comedonal acne and preventing the formation of new lesions.
- Promotes a smoother skin texture and is potent enough to address deeper fine lines and sun damage.
- The 0.1% “Forte” strength is the highest standard concentration, designed for maximum clinical impact.
Key Ingredients
- Tazarotene (0.1% w/w)
Precautions
- Due to its potency, Tazret Forte can cause significant “retinoid burn” (redness, peeling, and stinging) if applied too heavily or too frequently.
- Tazarotene is classified in a higher risk category for pregnancy than other retinoids. Do not use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- Your skin will become extremely sensitive to UV rays. Daily application of a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ is mandatory.
- Like most retinoids, Tazarotene should only be applied in the evening.
- Avoid using other irritating products (BHA, AHA, Vitamin C, or harsh scrubs) while using Tazret Forte to prevent skin barrier collapse.
How to Use
- Wash the area with a mild cleanser and wait at least 20 minutes for the skin to be completely dry.
- Use a very small amount (a pea-sized drop for the entire face). For psoriasis, apply only to the affected plaques.
- Spread a thin film over the area, avoiding the corners of the eyes, nostrils, and lips.
- It is highly recommended to use a rich, soothing moisturizer either before or after application to buffer the intensity.
- Start by using it every third night, gradually increasing frequency only as your skin adapts.
Legal Disclaimer: Tazret Forte is a prescription-strength medication. It is much more powerful than over-the-counter retinol. Follow your dermatologist’s instructions strictly to avoid severe skin irritation.
