Elyn Cream is a topical cream made by Ajanta Pharma that contains eflornithine hydrochloride 13.9%. Eflornithine works by blocking an enzyme in the hair follicle that is needed for hair to grow quickly. It is prescribed for women who have unwanted facial hair, a condition called facial hirsutism. With regular use the hair grows back more slowly and looks finer, so you may need to shave or wax less often. The cream does not remove hair, so you should continue your usual hair removal method. It is applied only to the face and under the chin, in a thin layer. Wait a few minutes after shaving, threading or waxing before you put it on, as freshly treated skin can sting. Use it twice a day, with about eight hours between applications. Visible results can take 8 to 12 weeks, and the hair may return if you stop using it. Mild stinging, redness or small pimples can occur, and you should tell your doctor if they continue. This is a prescription medicine, so use it only as advised by a registered doctor.
